Parathyroid Diagnosis and Surgery
I have seen Dr. Rejowski for many things over the past 25 years. He is absolutely the best - a wonderful doctor and an incredibly caring person. I went in for a routine physical in March and the doctors found I had a high calcium count. After further testing I received the diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism, which turns out to be at least 1 overactive parathyroid gland. I had melanoma in 1997 and did not handle that well in any way. Immediately after receiving this parathyroid diagnosis my mind started spiraling out of control about cancer and medical issues. I called Dr. Rejowski's office as this is one of his many specialties. He saw me immediately, spent a ton of time with me to help me calm down, did some further testing and determined one of the parathyroid glands had to come out. Dr. Rejowski met with my wife and I a few days prior to the surgery to review the process and answer any questions we might have. It turned out to be a very delicate surgery as it was very close to my vocal cords. Dr. Rejowski did the surgery perfectly. I was out of the hospital the next day and back on my feet very quickly. The pathology came back showing this as benign, which is what Dr. Rejowski said he expected it to be from the first time I saw him about this. He had me follow up with him 2 times after the operation to make sure everything was healing correctly. My voice is completely normal and Dr. Rejowski just told me my blood work is back to normal. I would recommend Dr. Rejowski to anyone - you will not find a more knowledgeable doctor and an incredibly caring man. He is the best!!!
I was referred to Dr. Rejowski by one of my other doctors. It was the best referral I have ever had. He was very caring and made me feel like I was special. I had lost my voice and 2 hours after surgery I had a social life again. I don't believe you could find a more understanding and caring doctor of your needs. If your pass him up you have made a mistake.
I had a sinus condition that was affecting my vision, which had many doctors stumped. Dr. Rejowski was able to correctly diagnose the condition, and successfully perform a difficult surgery. He is always courteous and professional, and did an excellent job of explaining my procedure with CT scans as visual aids. His passion for his work is evident the results. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an ENT doctor.
I met Dr. Rejowski for the first time. I felt very relaxed and confident, that he was the right Dr. for me. He was. He is kind, gentle, patient. The operation on my throat was a success. I would recommend him to all my friends, family.
Thank you, Dr. Rejowski.
Nodules on Thyroid
I have had nodules on my thyroid since 1997, being watched by many doctors. Dr. Rejowski performed surgery on my thyroid removing a large nodule that started to grow over to the right side of the thyroid. He removed the left side of my thyroid and the surgery and recovery were almost pain-free. Since I was left with the right side and the thyroid was working, I do not have to take meds. He is awesome, you can\'t even see the scar and surgery was performed June 3, 2014. Very caring as well as his staff, and I would highly recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. Thank you Dr.
Deviated septum and chronic sinusitis
Doctor James Rejowski is a caring and knowlegeable physician and surgeon. I have been a patient of his since the early nineties and have always had an outstanding experience in my treatments. I had nasal surgery for a deviated septum and chronic sinusitis
and am extremely happy with the results.
Dr.James Rejowski is an outstanding doctor, he represents the doctor that we all want taking care of us, he is professional, caring, knowledgeable, experienced, understanding and compassionate. I had nasal surgery for chronic sinusitis and lots of polyps I suffered and felt miserable for years because of this. I can assure you that the impact of the results of the surgery in the quality of life that I have now, are priceless. I will always be thankful to Dr. Rejowski for helping me improve my health. His staff was also very nice and helpful.
Very satisfied with Dr.Rejowki's care & professionalism. I would recommend him to anyone who needs his type of services.
Wonderful Man and Dr.
I was referred to Dr. Rejowski by my GP doctor to have a lesion removed from my thyroid. From my first appointment with Dr. Rejowksi I knew I was in good hands. He's was so kind and didn't make me feel like " just another patient". Along with his nurse Diane, I knew I was well taken care of.
Dr. Rejowski has always been very kind, caring and professional. He is the only ENT Dr. that I trust. He is the BEST!!! ( He performed nose surgery on me,Surgery my son's broken nose, and removed my other son's tonsils 17 yrs ago). Great Dr.
I have had problems with my nose for years and have been to various doctors. After going to Dr. Rejowski I will never go to another ENT again. He is tremendous with his patients and his staff is amazing as well. I will not let anyone I know go to another doctor.
I was referred to Dr. Rejowski for fluid in my ears that wouldn't go away. Although insertion of ear tubes is usually performed on children, he explained the benefits of the tubes, provided options, then scheduled surgery. He is very professional and all his staff are very kind. Great results and follow up post surgery. I will highly recommend him to others.
I had sinus surgery and probably much over due. Dr. Rejowski answered all my questions and relieved my fears. He is thorough and very kind in his delivery. The nurses and doctors at Hinsdale are excellent in support of Doctor's procedures. I'm so grateful for the good experience and looking forward to better sinus health.
Having avoided this simple repair two years previously because I didn\'t feel the surgeon I saw then (different practice, different hospital) was comfortable with the procedure, I felt totally confident in Dr. Rejowski from the moment I met him. Gentle, thorough, good communicator, kind. I knew exactly what to expect. Completely assured and experienced. No surprises. Very glad I finally had it taken care of. Very glad I chose this physician.
Dr Rejowski is the Best Doctor--he is a excellent surgeon. He was very attentive, compassionate when I had my thyroid surgery. I would recommend him to anyone who may need his services. Thank you for all you did for me.
Doctor Rejowski has a calming manner. My daughter is 12 and was very nervous about surgery. He was awesome talking with her and explaining everything.
SECOND VISIT IN 10 YEARS
Went in for hearing loss on this visit. They took the time to explain my options and most of all they listened to what my concerns and symptoms were. Go elsewhere at your own risk!
Dr Rejowski is the best doctor I have ever experienced in my almost 55 years. He was like a family member caring for me. He was attentive, explained things clearly and was compassionate even when things did not go as planned after surgery. I respect him and trust him. I would recommend him to anyone who needs the services he could provide Thank you for everything
I am an adult that probably should have had his tonsils taken out as a child. I was referred to Dr. Rejowski for a tonsillectomy. The surgery went great, I healed quickly and with no problems. I would definitley recommend Dr. Rejowski and I will be calling him if I have any future ENT needs.
I\'ve struggled to breath for years because of severe allergies, have had weekly shots for three years with some relief. My allergist recommended I see an ENT specialist so I went to see a surgeon she recommended.
After the diagnosis I decided to get a second opinion and man I\'m glad I did. Dr. Rejowski was recommended to me by a friend who had sinus surgery. Dr. Rejowski was conservative but thorough and made the entire experience much much better than I expected.
I can finally breath with ease especially at night when I sleep, wish I would have done this years ago.
Thanks Again Doc
I couldn't be happier with my sinus surgery. Dr Rejowski was both patient and thoughtful. I was very nervous going into the surgery-Dr Rejowski and Diane helped answer all of my questions and put me at ease. The results have been amazing.
I had what can best be described as a very large unwanted fatty tumor in my neck, possibly for as long as 6 years. I was told that it was around my artery under my muscles, and around a lot of nerve endings from another Dr.
From the moment I met Dr. Rejowski, his calm and graceful nature just put me at ease; after he listened to all my concerns he addressed each of my concerns and made me feel confidant that I had finally found the right Dr.
It\'s now 2 weeks post surgery, I could not be happier with the result.
All of the mass removed, everything went very well.
I am so pleased with Dr. Rejowski, I would recommend him for any surgery dealing with the ears nose throat,... basically from the neck up. And all of the hospital staff feels the same way.
Wonderful Dr. and a very good man... Thank you again
Dr. Rejowski...Christmas came early for me this year!
Paralyzed Vocal Chord
Dr. Rejowski has been wonderful in helping me deal with a paralyzed vocal chord. I have had two procedures performed, each of which was done with all care and concern on Dr. R’s part. My comfort and confidence level was and remains very high. Confident, caring, skilled – all of this plus a great sense of humor makes him a consummate professional.
When I fell and broke my nose it was very scary and shocking. It required surgery to straighten the nasal bone and septum. Being female there was also a question of my vanity. Dr. Rejowski was very gentle, giving me all the details of what would take place and what I could expect. He did a wonderful job of making my nose look like....well, my nose again. I hope I have no reason to see him again, but if I do, I would not hesitate. His nurse, Diane, was wonderful too.
From my first contact with Dr Rejowski and staff of the York ENT I was extremely pleased with services I have received. No pressure, clear explanations and perfect support during the whole process. I would definitely recommend this great team to anybody who is looking for caring and professional doctor.
I had a very good experience. Everything was explained very clearly before and after surgery I was treated kindly and consideration was shown for personal preferences.Very satisfied.
My daughter's recovery went really well. We were really pleased with the overall procedure and explanations.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed. Dr. Rejowski is an expert! He described to me in great detail what was wrong with my thyroid and the procedure I could take to get it removed as well as what the scar would look like. He took time and care to make sure my scar was as small as possible and exceeded my expectations. He is the nicest, most respectful doctor that I have ever met!
Scar tissue around the vocal cords prevented removal of my trach tube which had been in for nine months. It is now out. I am a work in progress! The last stage of closing the hole is ahead of me. With the skill Dr Rejowski has performed in what was considered impossible, I have confidence that this will be successful.
Nasal polyp questions answered and surgery successful
After years of being stuffed up, 51-year-old John Ambrosia of Western Springs can finally breathe again thanks to the work of Dr. James Rejowski of York ENT Surgical Consultants. Dr. Rejowski, a board-certified otolaryngologist, diagnosed John with chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps and a deviated septum. In fact, John’s right nostril was more than 80 percent blocked. Also, John's septum (the bone dividing the nose in two) was deviated, or shifted out of line. After a careful examination, Dr. Rejowski recommended endoscopic sinus surgery, along with a septoplasty (shaving of the septum to reposition it correctly).
John was impressed with how exhaustively Dr. Rejowski described the procedure. "He was extremely thorough and explained all of the other treatment options he had, from different types of surgeries to non-surgical procedures.
Since John had suffered from the polyps for a number of years, he was relieved that Dr. Rejowski was finally able give him relief. "It was by far the best and most comprehensive care I've been given for this problem," John says. "Dr. Rejowski not only talked to me about the polyps and deviated septum, but also explained the problems they caused."
Thyroid cancer patient grateful for skilled hands and compassion
Like many people who learn they are suffering from cancer, Maurice Brown of Bolingbrook, IL was scared. When he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, he had never even been in the hospital. He slowly began to relax when he met otolaryngologist, Dr. James Rejowski of York ENT Surgical Consultants, who took care to explain, step by step, the process by which Maurice’s tumor would be surgically removed. Maurice was calmed by Dr. Rejowski’s positive reassurances and the fact that Dr. Rejowski had a private conversation with Maurice's wife during surgery to offer comfort and support.
When Maurice had his stitches removed, he learned from the pathologist that his post-surgery prognosis was more complicated. Dr. Rejowski immediately got in touch with Maurice and they talked at length.
"His reaction was as though he were the one having surgery," Maurice said. From there, Dr. Rejowski recommended a second surgery - a complete thyroidectomy, which meant that Maurice's thyroid would be removed. The second surgery was very successful, and Dr. Rejowski still continues to keep in touch with Maurice.
"I feel like I've made a lifetime friend in Dr. Rejowski," Maurice explains.
Chronic sinus infection finally cured
Richard Meyer, 54, of Western Springs was frustrated by an ongoing sinus infection he'd been trying to shake for a year. He’d been seeing an oral surgeon, who tried to alleviate the problem by performing surgery twice. Despite these treatments, Richard was still suffering.
Late last year, his oral surgeon referred him to Dr. James Rejowski of York ENT Surgical Consultants, who treated Richard surgically for a condition called fungal sinusitis. Sinusitis is an infection in the sinuses. Although acute sinusitis is a relatively short-lived illness, chronic sinusitis, such as the kind Richard had, is often a much longer ordeal.
Richard praises Dr. Rejowski's impeccable bedside manner and great communication skills. "He's a personable physician," Richard explains. "He's easy to talk to." Richard also appreciated the way Dr. Rejowski spoke with him before the surgery about what was going to happen during the procedure, which made him less apprehensive going into surgery.
However, the most important thing that Dr. Rejowski did was cure Richard after a year of wondering why his condition wasn't getting better. "Dr. Rejowski fixed the problem, finally, when no one else could," Richard says.
Patient thrilled after large thyroid tumor removal
Although 55-year-old Barry Mestemaker of Countryside says he has "always been a pretty healthy guy," he was recently impacted by severe headaches that he believed were caused by a sinus infection. However, diagnostic tests showed that Barry had a very large thyroid tumor in his chest, which was compressing the veins there and had caused a blood clot that extended into his neck and up into his brain.
Like Barry’s tumor, 90% of thyroid tumors are benign, but they can be complicated because the thyroid is an organ responsible for regulating metabolism and can impact other body functions as well.
After learning of his tumor, Barry was referred to Dr. James Rejowski of York ENT Surgical Consultants, who reassured Barry of a positive outcome. Barry had never been in a hospital before his surgery and was apprehensive about the procedure. After his initial meeting with Dr. Rejowski, however, Barry was certain that he was the doctor for the job and was struck by Dr. Rejowski's compassion.
Barry's surgery was very successful. Dr. Rejowski teamed up with cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Frank Lutrin, on a combined procedure that removed Barry's tumor while saving the nerve to his vocal cord and his voice. Dr. Rejowski continued to provide Barry with support and comfort when they met after surgery and Barry is thankful that his first experience with surgery was so positive.
"I felt that I was in good hands with Dr. Rejowski," Barry says. "I would recommend him to anyone who is in need of an ear, nose, and throat doctor."
Baby treated carefully for infected/enlarged adenoids
For parents, having a sick child can be scary and frustrating. Anna Hendrix of Dixon, IL knows this all too well. Her daughter, Sadie, was 19 months old when she brought her to Dr. James Rejowski of York ENT Surgical Consultants after Sadie was having trouble with nasal congestion and frequent sore throats. By the time Anna brought Sadie to see Dr. Rejowski, she was frustrated. She had already taken her daughter to two doctors closer to her home, but hadn't felt satisfied with either of them. Anna felt that Sadie's first two doctors weren’t tuned into her daughter during their appointments. Her visit to Dr. Rejowski was much different.
"Every visit to Dr. Rejowski was all about my daughter," Anna says. "It was nice to have a doctor that actually cared about my child as an individual." Anna felt that Dr. Rejowski took his time to get to know Sadie's case, was caring and compassionate, and very considerate of Sadie’s young age. After a careful examination, Dr. Rejowski recommended an adenoidectomy, removal of the adenoids. Adenoids are located behind the nose and soft palate and are part of the human immune system and can cause noisy breathing, ear infections, snoring, or sleep apnea (a condition where the patient stops breathing while they're asleep) if they become infected and/or enlarged.
He also treated Sadie with myringotomy, a procedure that involves creating a tiny incision in the eardrum and inserting small tubes to release pressure and help with drainage of the fluid that had built up over time.
In addition to his professional care, Anna appreciated that Dr. Rejowski engaged Sadie on her level and made her feel comfortable. "He was wonderful," Anna says. "Dr. Rejowski is the best doctor I've ever seen and my daughter is doing great."
Young woman relieved to discover diagnosis for hearing loss
A visit to Dr. James Rejowski of York ENT Surgical Consultants in Hinsdale was life-altering to 21-year-old Cindy Cruz. The Chicago resident was suffering from fever, red eyes and hearing loss. She had visited several doctors in the past who were unable to diagnose her condition.
Once Cindy visited Dr. James Rejowski of York ENT Surgical Consultants, however, everything started falling into place. “He was the first doctor that listened to what I had to say,” Cindy admits. While Cindy felt other doctors had barely heard her describe her symptoms, Dr. Rejowski encouraged her to tell him everything from the beginning. Even though she told the other doctors about her hearing loss, Dr. Rejowski was the first one to give her a hearing test once he heard her symptoms.
Dr. Rejowski diagnosed Cindy with Cogan syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by inflammation of the cornea that can lead to blindness and deafness if not treated. In Cindy’s case, it had caused sudden sensorineural hearing loss. At Cindy’s first appointment, Dr. Rejowski started her on therapy to treat her hearing loss, and after two days she was hearing well again.
Cindy was impressed that Dr. Rejowski took the time to listen to her carefully – a quality she wishes more doctors possessed. “I had teams of doctors working with me and no one could figure it out,” Cindy says. “I’m really, really grateful to Dr. Rejowski.”
